UNDP Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan are organizing the country’s first International Model UN Security Council Conference to be held in October 2013 in Baku.
The theme of the Conference is “Cyber Security”. Students will have the opportunity to hear from experts from various UN agencies specialising in the field of cyber security.
The Conference will bring together 45 university students and graduates from the current members of the UN Security Council. These include: China, France, Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Australia, Guatemala, Luxembourg, Morocco, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Rwanda and Togo.
Selected candidates will participate in a two-day pre-conference training workshop to be organised in collaboration with the UN DPI HQ and followed by a simulated session of the UN Security Council.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Only university students and graduates between 18 and 26 years of age are eligible to apply
Only candidates who are nationals of one of the 15 states currently serving as members of the UN Security Council are eligible to apply.
International applicants: only candidates with a minimum of one-to-two years of university-level Model UN experience are eligible to apply
The official working language of the Conference is English
All travel, board and lodging expenses for the selected participants will be covered by the organisers.
